August 2, 2021 "Why?"
AHHHHHHHHHHH, well brothers and sisters, sorry I haven't been responding to many emails (I promise I'll do them next week). I've spent most of the week either asleep or wishing I was. A cold (possibly covid but we're going to call it a cold) has been going around the mission and I have spent most of the week learning about different kinds of cough drops, that I physically can't gargle saltwater because I gag, and that I can go through more tissues than I thought possible. Also, people avoid sick people like the plague.
We had zone conference this week and I was called on to do a spontaneous five minute talk. Unfortunately, my voice sounded like death and everyone learned I was sick in the worst way possible.
Also, we had a lesson trying to explain to a member that no, the people she doesn't like will not be reincarnated into rollypollys and my companion had a headache and slept through the lesson so super sick Sophie one armed her way through a mostly spontaneous plan of salvation aided only by the Secrest extra strength coughdrops and five tissues.
Highlight of the week: the elders heard we had a bad day and brought over a ton of chocolate and taught us about Shiloh Buff (spelling uncertain).
In zone conference we talked about why. Why we chose to go on a mission and why we choose to stay. I knew the reason I went on this mission: because I trusted the plan that God had for me. But this week I've really been trying to understand the reason I decided to stay.
And I realized that it's because I believe in this message. I believe that Jesus Christ came to this earth to bring his gospel and to show us the way back home. I believe that the Book of Mormon is the most correct book on earth and that men could get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts than by other book. And I believe in the priesthood power and that we have a prophet to lead and guide us in the present day. I believe in this message and I believe that it's worth the sacrifice of my time and energy and money to share.
I invite you this week to ask yourself why YOU believe in this message. If you don't believe, it's OK. Testimonies take time. Talk to someone you trust, read your scriptures, and pray every day and I promise you that you will believe.
I love you all,
Stay safe and keep killing it,
Sister Brice
P.S. There's nothing you could do that would make Jesus love you any less
