August 30, 2021 "Is It Time To Baptize Her?"

I'm sorry it's been hard lately for me to put into words what's been happening down here in Nebraska. Hopefully this week I'll do a little bit of a better job.

This week has been busy. Most days we've had about six lessons (sometimes we don't get dinner in because we are running around and talking to people). It's been really nice.
Well, we had interviews this week. Which, if you didn't know already, is kindof an awkward time (I think I've already told you guys this before but I cry every time I have an interview with any priesthood leader. It's pretty embarrassing.)

Well, I went in with President Bailey and immediately (halfway through the prayer) I started crying. President was very kind (and pretty concerned), and we talked about how things were going in the area. Well, we started talking about Allie, a young woman that we are teaching. She's been to church almost every week for the past three or four months and had most of the lessons. But we hadn't reached most of the commandments yet and since her parents aren't religious, we wanted to keep meeting with her and giving the lessons before we approached the topic of baptism.
But in my interview, President told me to set Allie on date that day.
"What are you waiting for?" He asked. "At this point she already knows if its true or not."

Interviews ended and we started driving to Allie's house for our lesson. On the car ride, we scrapped the Word of Wisdom lesson and decided to set her on date.

I'm going to be honest, I was afraid. Walking into that lesson, I didn't feel prepared. I trusted my mission president, but I wasn't sure how we were going to do this. I wasn't sure what was going to happen.

We walked in and had one of the most spiritual lessons I have ever had the opportunity of having. We talked to Allie and shared our testimonies of baptism and SHE SAID YESSSS!!!!!

I wish you all could have felt the spirit that was present in the room during our lesson. I wish and hope that each one of you has felt God's love for you so strong that it seems like the only kind of balm in a desert of empty.

I testify that we are headed by a living prophet who speaks from the mouth of God. I testify that the priesthood power is once again restored to earth and by making and keeping priesthood covenants we can find the most happiness and peace that we will ever know. I promise that God speaks to man and that the priesthood was restored through Joseph Smith. I promise that you can feel that truth too.

I love you all,
Remember: there is nothing that you could do that would make Christ love you any less but He loves you too much to leave you as you are,

Sister Brice

Also, I hadn't seen a single horse in Bellevue and so I put that on our weekly goal (I just looked wanted to see a horse). Well, the first time we left our apartment after setting those goals, we saw a pasture of horses! We tried calling them, but they weren't coming. I thought of President Nelson's talk about 'what would you do if you had more faith?' And I thought that if I had more faith, the horses would walk over.
And guess what? I got to touch a horse!
