March 15, 2022 "Miracle Monday"
Hey everyone! Another transfer has ended. We just found that Sister Castillo is leaving us and our trio is down to a duo again.
We had some cool miracles this week.
First of all, sushi.
I decided that I was going to make sushi this week. But fish is super expensive and as everyone knows, missionaries are broke. So we thawed out some frozen tilapia, cut up some cucumbers while my Columbian roommate made rice ~Columbian rice~ and avacados with some rice vinegar. We readied the seaweed and prepared to roll our masterpieces. Needless to say, I am not a sushi chef and after about ten minutes, we decided to have sushi 'a la *deconstructe*' in a bowl. It was not good and it was a miracle that none of us died.
Second miracle! Our friend Nero (was that the codename I used before) made it to church!
Backstory: Nero looks like the opposite of anyone who would ever be interested in the gospel. He's a huge nearly forty year old man with a man bun and covered in prison tattoos. His earlier life is about the farthest you could ever find from religion or God.
Nero reached out to us about a month ago asking for a Book of Mormon. He told us that he didn't want to meet with us but then he reached out after a couple of weeks to learn. We gave him a tour of our church building, which was the first time he had been in a church in over thirty years, and taught him about Jesus Christ.
This guy is one of the most genuinely interested in Jesus people that he have ever met. We've been teaching him the very basic principles of Jesus Christ's gospel. The past two Sundays, he's sat in the parking lot of the church, too afraid to go in. This Sunday, he finally joined us for church service. His two daughters and their two friends came with him and they stayed for two services they liked it so much.
I've realized this week that there is so much in the world. So much hurt and heartache and bad things but also, on the flipside, so much peace and joy. So many miracles and babies laughing. So many puppies and good people who are willing to pitch in. There's so many wonders of the world and so many things to do. This life is a blessing. There is so much in life worth living. I pray that I, or anyone around me, won't be able to forget that.
Love,
Sister Brice
Sorry, I need to take more pics
