Hello brothers and sisters! I hope you had an amazing Easter weekend and were able to watch General Conference!
Some highlights this week:
We found a stray husky puppy! One of the Elders loaded it into their car and took it to their apartment until the humane society opened.
Also, we've been doing a lot of service this week again and a LOT of house cleaning...
Both of our investigators ghosted us this week.
It was my trainer's 1 year mark so the Elders and I planned a surprise dinner of her favorite foods!
My first day in Nebraska, we helped move a woman. She was older, living in a tiny apartment, sleeping on a bare filthy mattress. She had three cats, so hair and cigarettes littered the entire apartment. She had classic Emphysema, tattoos and piercings in every corner, homespun clothes, and was as far away from the picture perfect Saint. But we contacted the Elders in her new area to help her move in and they invited her to church. In the two weeks since she's been given a book of Mormon, she's read halfway through Alma. The Elders are struggling to keep up with all of her honest and sincere questions. It turns out, like this should be any surprise, that only the Lord knows who is ready to receive His gospel. The Lord knows each of us and he loves every single freaking one of you.
Easter!
I was feeling super sorry for myself one day and I just started praying to know how I could be happier. I felt a prompting to start doing push ups. And, despite how silly it seems, that has been incredibly helpful in helping me remain cheerful and focused. Every time I have an unkind or grump thought, I do twenty push ups.
I hope everyone was able to listen to general conference and to hear a message, spoken or unspoken, that they needed to hear. Please, right that prompting down so that you can remember it.
I testify that our loving Heavenly Father speaks through the mouth of his prophets and apostles. I testify that this same Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ talk to each of us on an intimate and personal level. Jesus Christ is our brother. He is our hermano. He is only ever as far away as we decide, and as close as He can be. Through Jesus Christ's life, his atoning sacrifice, his crucification, his death, and his resurrection, we will never be alone. We will never be forgotten or unwanted. You have an older brother who loves you and understands exactly what you are going through and how it feels. He will not forget or give up on you. You are loved. By your families, by your friends, by me, and most importantly by your older brother. Your Hermano, your frére, your kaikaina, your 兄, your shaqiq, your irmão, your Bruder, your brother. Jesus Christ is not distant. He knows you. He loves you. He waits for you with open arms. And He will not forget you. I promise you that no matter where you are at in life, Christ will take you as you are and leave you changed for the better.
Love,
Sister Brice
