October 11, 2021 Bellevue

Sorry guys, this week's email is kind of short.

There's an elder who has a stuffed animal penguin that he adores. We stole it, brought it home, and crocheted a hat and scarf for him. His reactions were pretty funny.

Some of the elders invited us to join a choir performance in an assisted living neighborhood. Just to clarify, I'm pretty tone deaf and my companion isn't a choir prodigy either so it was pretty rough. We had a practice that went pretty shaky so we spent most of our companion study the next day practicing the songs. I think that my private choir lessons with a sister in my ward several years ago came in clutch.

Also, we had a baptism! (MY FIRST BAPTISM!!!!!!!!)

I know, I know.

Eight months into my mission, almost halfway, and not a single baptism. Well, this week we had one. Our good friend Abby who I've had the pleasure of teaching for all but the first lesson decided to follow the example of Jesus Christ and enter the waters of baptism.
There was a few crinkles. First, we didn't have a key to the font so we had to finagle one from the elders. Then the printer wouldn't work so we asked Abby's fellowshipping family if they could print the programs out. (They later showed up with different programs which was slightly disappointing because we had spent two hours making some really cute programs.) They also wrote different talks than we had originally planned so I had to change my topic really quickly.
But it's ok. Missionaries leave and it's much better that Abby's friends and family were happy and felt like they were contributing.
Other than that, it was a breeze. The spirit was really strong and the Bellevue ward is so supportive.

Love you all,
Sorry there are no photos
